Forums updated and small problems fixed

Postby Mnrogar » Wed Apr 12, 2006 3:35 am

I've had to close the boards for a few hours earlier to settle a few things, my apologies. Here is what was done:

1- The extra carriage returns in the old posts before the move to the new host should all be gone now for your nostalgic reading pleasure. Same with old private messages... well most of them, don't ask, just playing it safe there.

2- www.mnrogar.com/phpBB2/ now points to the forums just as www.mnrogar.com/phpBB2/index.php does.

3- The forums have been updated to the lastest version of phpBB2 which was released only a few days ago. See? I'm totally whipped now! :P

That should (big emphasis on "should" given the pain that can be Murphy's law) take care of any immediate problems/bugs that needed to be dealt with and should also close the "being hacked and moving to a new host" saga.

That being said, I want to give a big thanks to the owner/host/webmaster (and all-around fine fellow :P) over at www.4thfactor.comfor now hosting this site and forums as well as helping me tremendously throughout this whole ordeal.

4thfactor.com (mostly centered around the forums) is the home of Strategic Insomniacs, a gaming clan I've been a part of for a long time now. We started out on the game Tactics Arena Online over 2 years ago but have since expanded to many other on-line games such as Halo/Halo2, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Runescape, Darkthrone, Half Life2/ Counter Strike CSS, SOCOM (1, 2, 3) and more.

Strategic Insomniacs is quite simply a community of on-line game players. So feel free to check us out whether you play one of the games we're on, would like to start a branch on a game we're not on yet or just by curiosity. Either way, keep playing something! ;)

/shameless plug

Heck, maybe I should restart pestering ZED about a hack to make FF3 multi-player on-line. :P

PS: Don't hesitate to report any problems with the forums/site and curse at Mr. Murphy.

There seems to be a dysfunction in the URL tags that prevents certain URLs from showing correctly, such as the following:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_bestiary_(A-E)
http://e.domaindlx.com/Novalia/FF6Bugs/Shadow%20-%20Gau's%20Father's%20House.PNG

This actually resulted from the board hacking/restoring.

Also, is it normal that I can't edit my posts nor delete them in this forum?

That's good to know... I'll have to look into this, after I get some sleep. I've used them fine in my previous post...

It is. When I modified permissons for this forum I only allowed basic replies. No reason not to let you edit and delete so done.

EDIT: Like I said, will look into the tags problem, urgh!
