problems registering

Postby LordJ » Tue Apr 27, 2010 12:17 am

Hello, I'm writting on behalf of Rainflush who is saying:

"[...] the confirmation code doesn't appear in my web browser (I've tried this on two computers), have you any idea what might be going on there? I'd sent a letter to the moderator (king_bahxxxx@xxxx) some days ago, but thus far I've received
no reply."

I was going to suggest enabling javascript for the page, but I already have it enabled and I don't see any image. Adblock plus didn't get any hits either, so I can attest to this problem existing.

I believe the problem is now fixed. Hooray mentioning it to random server administrators.

Hello,

I'm the one who's been trying to register (Rainflush), though I'd just discovered that guests could make posts on the forum :/

The problem with the confirmation code is fixed (thank you for that, by the way), however I registered yesterday morning and again later that day with another address, and I'm yet to receive a confirmation link via email to either of the provided addresses. Forum user White Hendrix stated on Thursday, September 09, 2004 that he didn't receive a confirmation link either, and that he had to be personally authorized by Mnrogar.

That's probably something Mnrogar needs to address. :(

Yes, he does still administer this forum, but it may be a while before he notices the problem (or we could get lucky). :?

Hm, would it be all right if I asked a few questions in this forum in the meantime?

I just activated the Rainflush account, see if you can post with it now.

Of course, that doesn't solve the actual problem, but I don't know what the source of the problem is nor do I have any higher access than the admin panel AFAIK, so there may be nothing assassin and I can do about the e-mails. However, we can at least do manual activations (apparently) until this is resolved (we were given admin capability some time back so we could ban spambots).

Lenophis: can you tell Hypher to do something about the "Not able to open ./cache/data_global.php" message at the bottom of the page? that (and the Captcha trouble) started right after he upgraded the server.

Done. There were a bunch of files in the cache directory which apache could not overwrite. I chown'd them all to apache and gave them all o+w permissions.

I'm not getting a registration-confirmation email.
What should I do?

i just used the Admin Control Panel to "Remind" you about registration (i.e. send you an email message) a few minutes ago. reply here in around 48 hours as to whether it worked. if not, i'll outright Activate you (i could do that now, but i wanna see if Remind does anything first).

Still no email.
The account I made is called Odbarc (I can't use it as a guest name because it already exists.)

I can't see a registration form anywhere. Could someone upload a screencap of where it is?
